When there is expectation of some type of receipt,
That is not giving.
When there is hope for some kind of return,
That is not giving.
When there is assumption of some sort of exchange,
That is not giving.
Only if we bid our gifts farewell,
May we call it, “giving.”
Only if we part with a bit more than we can afford,
May we name it, “giving.”
Only when we benevolently bestow our presents,
May we say, “It’s giving.”
Where there is expectation of receipt,
There will be a hoarding of gifts.
Naturally, no giving takes place,
With hope for some return.
Some give less than the affordable.
Unquestionably, no gift is given.
Under the assumption of exchange,
Lies a malevolent bestowal.
Obviously, such a bestowal lacks true gifts.
True gifts, meaning...
The simple satisfaction of giving,
In and of itself!
