Save Our Sanctuary

Salt Lake City has approved a ten-story apartment building 111 feet high along the south side of our sanctuary, as well as a multi-story parking garage along the west side.

Since 2020, we have repeatedly raised concerns about this development, but we've been largely ignored by the city. We do not oppose development, but these enormous structures will dramatically affect our sanctuary, reduce the sunlight reaching our grounds, harm our greenhouse and gardens, and interfere with spiritual practices we've conducted here for decades.

For us, this is not simply a dispute about a building. It threatens our ability to practice our religion in the sanctuary we have maintained for almost fifty years.

We are appealing the city's approval of the building on the grounds that it threatens our state and federal Constitutional rights. We expect significant legal expenses and we can use some help to protect our sanctuary from this burden being placed upon us.
